Rip out


Day 1
  • Toilet to be removed
  • Vanity, mirror, light fixture, sink and faucet to be removed
  • Tile and drywall to be removed around tub
  • Bulk head (aka drop ceiling) over tub area to be removed (If one exists)
  • Baseboards, window casing and door casing to be removed
  • Floor tile to be removed
Day2

Plumbing Rough in


Day 2
  • Re-locate drain to center of shower and install shower drain
  • Install shower valve and rough in location for shower head or wall outlet
  • Re-locate plumbing for sink drain and faucet supply lines to center of sink base
  • Cap off all water supply lines so that tile, drywall or cabinetry can be neatly cut around pipes.
Day3

Electrical rough in


Day 3
  • Mount pot lights
  • Mount exhaust fan
  • Rough in electrical boxes for wall sconces
  • Install new light switches
  • Install new electrical receptacle (GFCI)
  • Run dedicated line to electrical panel (if sufficient electrical is not present in existing bathroom)
Day4

Insulation, Prep. and Drywall


Day 4
  • Install new insulation and vapour barrier on outside shower wall
  • Install new insulation and vapour barrier in ceiling above shower
  • Repair holes in subfloor (from relocating shower drain)
  • Rescrew entire subfloor
  • (If necessary) Shim and/or plane down studs where new drywall is to be applied to ensure flat installation of new drywall.
  • Install additional studs in ceiling above shower as well as where new drywall will meet up with old drywall (if currently not existing)
  • Install new drywall on shower walls and ceiling
  • Repair drywall where holes have been created during rip-out, electrical and/or plumbing rework
  • Apply first coat of drywall compound

Drywall Continued


Day 5
  • Sand down first coat of drywall compound
  • Apply second coat of drywall compound
Day6

Tile, Drywall continued


Day 6
  • Sand down second coat of drywall compound
  • Apply final coat of drywall compound (if required) Use fast drying compound
  • Prime bathroom
Day7

Paint


Day 7
  • Apply first coat of paint to bathroom
Day8

Build Shower, Floor prep


Day 8
  • Install sloped shower base (Schluter foam)
  • Install shower curb
  • Install waterproof membrane on shower base and walls up to the ceiling
  • (if necessary) Feather out high and low spots on floor with cement to ensure flat application of floor tile
  • Install Ditra uncoupling membrane on bathroom floor

Tile


Day 9
  • Start tiling bathroom

  • Finish tile (including bathroom floor)

Grout

  • Grout bathroom
  • Install silicone
  • Leave grout to dry

Vanity, Finish electrical, Measure for countertop

  • Install vanity
  • Install mirror
  • Install baseboards, window casing and door casing
  • Install light fixtures
  • Install all electrical plates and trims for pot lights and fan
  • Measure for custom countertop (approximately 2 weeks from time of measure to manufacture and install)
Day13

Measure for shower glass

  • Measure for custom shower glass (approximately 2 weeks from time of measure to manufacture and install)
Day14

Paint


Day 14
  • Apply second coat of paint (if required)
  • Paint baseboards, window casing and door casing
Day15

Countertop install, Finish plumbing (Aprox. 2 weeks after Day 12)


Day 15
  • Install countertop
  • Install toilet
  • Install shower trim plates and shower heads
  • Install lavatory faucet and drain for sink
  • Install bathroom accessories
Day16

Shower glass (Aprox. 2 weeks after Day 13)


Day 16
    Installation of shower glass
